Since first strapping on skates in 2000, the Lady Eagles hockey program has grown into a nationally-recognized female force!
The Lady Eagles play at the top levels of college club hockey: nationally as proud members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and locally in the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference (DVCHC).
As an American University club sport we do not offer scholarships, hold tryouts or turn away anyone on the basis of playing experience. Our squad is made up of a wide range of players -- those with lifelong hockey backgrounds to students just learning the game.
While our season requires dedication, we believe being a college student (and having fun) comes first. Our schedule generally consists of two practices a week and games on most weekends. Players have time to go abroad, take internships and study!
The team is a student-run, non-profit. 8% of our funding comes from AU Athletics, 30% comes from players and for the rest we rely on generous donors. (Thank you!!)
Beyond the ice, our players are offered valuable leadership opportunities, are good students and positive members of the DC community.
Each year we're involved with major events, from our Verizon Center game (sponsored by the Washington Caps), to the league All-Star Game and DVCHC Championship Weekend.
We hold fundraisers, help teach kids to skate, assist hockey programs for special needs players, and HAVE FUN as a team!
