Dear Recruit,
As the team's head coaches we'd like to be the first to say
hello and welcome you to a possible future with the Lady Eagles.
We may be biased, but we feel American University is a
great fit
for young women to grow, on and off the ice.
Here are three reasons why:
Washington DC
Our nation's capital is one of the best places in the country to further education. Whatever your interest, Washington boasts a headquarters for nearly every major institute & organization.
American itself is located on Embassy Row, down the street from NBC Headquarters and just up the way from Capitol Hill, the FBI and the White House.
In this beautiful and bustling city, you'll never be bored or lacking in career opportunities.American University
AU is the perfect blend of all a university can offer: Its size (roughly 5,500 undergrads) is big enough to meet people but not so big that you get lost in the crowd.
Our location in Northwest DC offers a full campus, surrounded by affluent neighborhood with direct (and free) access to the city.
Classes are kept small (about 20-25 students per) yet constantly feature famous public speakers and teachers, drawing luminaries such as Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama.
Finally, AU has one of the nation's most popular study abroad programs, endless internship possibilities, was ranked 85th best in the US and is a fun place to be.The Lady Eagles
As an AU hockey player you'll be able to grow in a friendly, team environment.
Our team is nationally competitive in the ACHA and recently won the DVCHC Championship! We work hard (dryland workouts, chalk talks & on-ice practices to hone your skills) but our love of the game and our friendships always come first.
The Lady Eagles also never turn away a player based on skill. We have vets from NCAA DI skating with girls who are learning the game. We work with any background.
Game days are a true experience. Whether we're on a bus trip to UMASS or playing on NHL ice in the Verizon Center, you're in for the college experience!
We have a lot of fun, but never so much that hockey is all you do here. Our players have time to be a college student FIRST.
Hey don't just take it from us, ask an Eagle! Our players would love to meet and talk
further with you. Use our recruit form to email questions or set up a time to come visit, we're more then happy to show those who are serious
about their education what DC is like.
On behalf of our team and our dedicated staff we wish you all the best. Whether you're involved in the college search or already at AU, we'd all love to hear from you soon!
Yours Truly,
Bryan Benenati & Emily McVey
